History of CAHP

For 35 years, the Colorado Association of Health Plans (CAHP) has been working to ensure high quality healthcare delivery on behalf of every plan member.

Formed in 1989, CAHP was originally known as the Colorado HMO Association and was formed to support the growth and development of health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and of preferred provider organizations (PPOs) in their efforts to provide high-quality, cost-effective health care services to the citizens of Colorado by:

1. Encouraging and fostering the managed care industry in Colorado
2. Articulating and advocating the needs of the managed care industry in Colorado before legislative, administrative, and judicial branches of state and local governments;
3. Promoting readily available, comprehensive health care of high quality for all Colorado

Thirty-five years later, we continue to work on behalf of Coloradans purchasing health insurance in the Colorado market.
